About the roleThis position is a key part of our St Vincent’s Lismore – Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD), reporting directly to the Nurse Unit Manager – Operating Theatre.In this role you will provide high quality sterile instruments to all departments within the hospital. In this role you will provide high quality sterile instruments to all departments within the hospital. As the CSSD Aide/ Technician your role requirements are:

  • Provide a high standard of service to the OR and other CSSD clients
  • Revise and renew skills, information and learning pertaining to changes in instrument technology, sterilising techniques and infection control guidelines
  • Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control (IPC) principles as prescribed by the external IPC consulting body, HICMR, in accordance with NSQHS Standard 3 – Preventing and Controlling Healthcare Associated Infection
  • Distribute stocks of sterile packs according to Standard of Practice
  • Report any malfunction or defect in any machinery/ equipment/ instrumentation and any suspicion of sub-standard packaging or sterilising to CSSD Coordinator.
